DESCRIPTION: Small Arms - E. Remington & Sons of Ilion, NY, factory engraved Elliot's patent 5 shot pepperbox Derringer pistol, manufactured approximately 1869, .22 caliber rim fire, ring trigger, silver-plated receiver with fine scrolled hand engraving, original ivory grips, 3 inch matching silver-plated fluted flip top barrel with floral etched details top stamped "MANUFACTURED BY E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, N.Y., ELLIOTS PATENTS. MAY 29. 1860 - OCT.1.1861," s#2112. Very scarce in silver-plated finish with five barrels and even more so with factory engraving and ivory grips. Ivory grips are antique and original to this firearm which was made before 1900; when removed they weigh 16.4 g (this includes their brass hardware and screws).
CONDITION: Good action; excellent overall cosmetic condition, good rifled bore with light pitting, fine barrel with loss of silver-plated finish at barrel tip, barrel top and high point areas, numerous small dings on frame and barrel as well as scattered areas of oxide, pitting and finish loss to side plates where underlying steel is showing though; grips with several light cracks, chip at screw center; trigger with light pitting and oxide.
